My family and I went to see this movie last night.  I really enjoyed the story line and its characters.  The animation was great.  This was a good third movie to see.  And, while I am aware that these are adults creating children’s movies two words spoken bothered me.  One was the word “butt” used to describe a smell on a piece of hair from Sid the sloth, and the other was “stupid” used to describe him by one of the twins.  They could have used the words bottom, backside or tush as many young children are accustomed to hearing anyway.  And, using the word “stupid” to describe not how Sid acted but how he “is” was mean.  Disney and Nickelodeon already have the overuse of these words on their daily kids shows, why not leave them out in the movie/anminations.

I was very excited to see the third movie of “Ice Age” and took 3 of my grandchildren with me to the theatre. It was lively and the 3D was fun but the more I watched the more disturbed I became. The fact that they kept referring to Sid as a mother and her children was obviously and push for acceptance to the gay community of which I am not. The inappropriate actions such as mistaking the milking of a male ram was defensive and the common use of violent action against each other became very wearing on the spirit. So I’m wondering why do we think that our children would not be offended by others outside the theatre if it’s so commonplace in everything they see and hear. The more they push it down our throats the more accepting we become of such raunch. I was disappointed and will not recommend this movie to anyone. At some point people need to take a stand and say enough. Challenge the moviemakers to see if they can come up with a good movie that is morally clean and appropriate and still make it sell. I’m sure they can it’s just easier not to. Soon children will not know good from bad and think everything is ok. It’s not and never will be.
Such a sad state of affairs.
