Movie Rating System
Canada

In Canada, movie ratings are a provincial responsibility. Between the 10 provinces and 3 territories, there are 7 film rating boards and offices, many of which use different rating symbols and descriptors. The boards are as follows:

All but two boards (British Columbia and Alberta) apply their ratings to home video products.

Finally, the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association (CMPDA) offers a national video rating that is found on many of the country's VHS and DVD products. An average of provincial ratings received by a movie when it ran in theaters, the home video rating is purely advisory and is superseded in provinces that apply their own rating to home video products.
