Parenting and the Media

There is no avoiding the massive influx of technology we are experiencing in our society, and parents are spending more time than ever before wondering how they can manage television, Internet, music and video games in their homes -- and their children's pockets. Violence in video games, how kids interpret sex on television, and the ongoing concern of how much time a child should be spending with media are only a sampling of what you will find here.

Rod Gustafson, founder of Parent Previews, has been writing an informative column on these topics and many more for the Parents Television Council in Los Angeles since 2001. Here we present an archive of just a few of his articles. For his latest comments on media, check his section on the Parents Television Council website.
