As a date night we went and watched this movie. Not knowing the details or story line of the books we went to be entertained. All was well for us until four characters in the movie needed to travel to the underworld. The blatant sexual innuendo of a human character stating to a half human half goat character while in a seductive manner stating to the effect to never “having” one before-really ruined the movie for both of us. I am surprised the rating was PG for this movie. Why did they have to put that in the movie? As I agree with RosemaryG with the virtues of the movie, that one scene was the the deal breaker for our home to bring in and become part of our family video library.

I watched this movie with my 10 year old son, an avid reader and fan of the author of this series. He and the 2 classmates he was with loved it. Although the movie deviates GREATLY from the book, I would say that it was appropriate for children of this age. Yes, there was quite a bit of violence but it was all set within a purely impossible/mythological context. There was a tiny bit of sexual content/innuendo but I think it went over their heads. Many virtues, such as bravery, loyalty, honesty and friendship were also present in the story, and should not be overlooked.
